Ask A Career Consultant
Dear Yvonne, I’m currently seeking radical fulfillment in my life. I’m 36 y/o. I’ve not been in the job space for years because I was doing a business; now I want to transition and build a career even though I feel age is no longer on my side. I want to know that there is hope for me, and can you help me with action steps to take?
Yvonne says,
Hey love. First, let me say: There is absolutely hope for you. Age is just a number, and your experience - from running a business to your life journey - adds so much value to any career path you choose now. Here’s how to step into this next chapter:
1. Own Your Journey: Your business experience isn’t a setback; it’s an asset! Take stock of the skills you've developed - management, problem-solving, creativity - and see how they can transfer into the career space you're now pursuing.
2. Start Small and Build Momentum: Break your goal into smaller, achievable steps. Whether it's upskilling, networking, or applying for roles, little by little, you’ll start building the career foundation you desire.
3. Focus on What Excites You: Radical fulfillment comes from aligning your career with what lights you up. Reflect on your passions, interests, and what drives you -build your career around that. It’ll make the journey more fulfilling.
4. Build Your Network: Seek mentors, join professional communities, and surround yourself with people who uplift you. They’ll help guide you, provide opportunities, and remind you of the possibilities.
You’ve already been successful in your own way - now it's about channeling that experience into your next adventure. You’ve got everything it takes to thrive!
Hugs, Yvonne.
