5 minutes read
Hey sis,
It’s our first newsletter of 2024 and of course, we had to make a grand entrance! January was a very memorable month for us at Sisterly HQ. For months, we had been working on The MastHER Class and it finally came to fruition on January 13 and 14. It was beyond transformational, sis. 70 women, 9 speakers, 8 sessions, and 2 days! We had a lot of fun, but we also learned, shared, and grew together. I’ll let one participant tell you in her own words.
‘It was a wonderful experience that left me smiling and inspired, unlike any other program I've attended.
After this session, I was reminded of a quote I like by Elaine Welteroth which goes "Sometimes just being yourself is the radical act. When you occupy space in systems that weren't built for you, your authenticity is activism.’
It was a beautiful program, truly. Sis, guess what? You can watch all of the recordings from The MastHER Class on YouTube here. While we couldn’t have everyone attend live due to limited resources, every member of our community can watch the recordings of the sessions and gain value as well.
A special invite!
Sis, I am excited to invite you to the culminating event of my 16-week Western Union Foundation Fellowship program powered by Watson Institute - Summit! This is a virtual event to be held on February 13th at 8:30 AM MT.
I am incredibly proud to be celebrated at the Summit, alongside talented social entrepreneurs and community leaders from Afghanistan, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Ghana, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda, and the United States!
And guess what? I would be pitching Sisterly HQ at the event, telling our story, showcasing our impact, and featuring some of your stories. To reserve your spot at the event, please register here. I look forward to seeing you there!

A Recap of The MastHER Class 2024
Day 1 of The MastHER Class was held on Zoom. We had sessions on personal finance, personal branding, and storytelling, leveraging LinkedIn, and navigating adulting (a session on mental health). On Day 2, which was held in person in Lagos, we had sessions on resume and cover letter writing, interview techniques, salary negotiation, and goal setting. The energy of the participants was unmatched! Sisters, you are amazing. Our sisters showed up and showed out!
One of the highlights of The MastHER Class was the speed-pitch contest on Day 2! The prompt was: How would you use N25,000 to achieve one personal or career development goal? The first winner, Special would be using the prize money to take courses to develop an App for women, and the second winner, Sumbo would be using the prize money at her NGO that provides access to digital literacy for children in the slum. We are about to start dropping all of the content from The MastHER Class on our socials this week. We can’t wait for you to see them!
